5 LGBTQ+ recommendations

  • THE HEIRESSES de Marcelo Martinessi ; Introspectif, subtil et empreint de naturalisme, sur une vieux couple constitué de deux femmes.
  • M/M, Drew Lint ; Mathieu, a young loner from Quebec exiled to Berlin, locks eyes – and bodies – with Matthias. This unsettling and visually stunning queer thriller will enchant viewers obsessed with the German capital as well as fans of dark intrigue.  Director in attendance ! Presented by MUTEK.
  • RAFIKI de Wanuri Kahiu ; sur la relation lesbienne de jeunes Kenyanes. Une première sur plusieurs plans. Co-présenté par LSTW Magazine et The Woman Power.
  • CASSANDRO, THE EXOTICO! de Marie Losier ; Cassandro est une vedette, mais ça n'a pas toujorus été facile pour cet exotico, un de ces lutteurs masqués mexicains travestis œuvrant dans l’univers de masculinité extrême qu’est la Lucha Libre. Présenté par Fugues avenc le soutien de l’AMEXCID et du CONSULAT GÉNÉRAL DU MEXIQUE À MONTRÉAL.
  • MADE THIS WAY: REDEFINING MASCULINITY de Irem Harnak et Elli Raynai ; Une docu-série interactive en Réalité Virtuelle qui explore la manière dont les personnes transgenres questionnent les normes de genre et redéfinissent les notions traditionnelles de la masculinité. *GRATUIT, au Complexe Desjardins du 5 au 14 octobre*

Il y a d'excellents court métrages très pertinents aussi sur les sujets LGBTQ+, mais ils ne sont pas regroupés dans un seul et même programme.

  • Focus Québec/Canada short films Program 3, including Emptying the Tank, Caroline Monnet ; The inner strength of a fascinating Chippewa female mixed martial artist..

  • DES ARMES ET NOUS, de Lysanne Thibodeau ; un documentaire au sujet des armes à feu dans les foyers. Co-présenté par les RIDM.
  • CUTTERHEAD, de Rasmus Kloster Bro ; Un huis-clos tendu d'une grande virtuosité, une allégorie sur les actuelles questions d’immigration en Europe.
  • STYX, Wolfgang Fischer ; une médecin partie en solitaire à bord de son voilier croise une embarcation de réfugiés. Un film qui nous renvoie à nos contradictions quant à l'immigration. Co-présenté par German Films. En présence du réalisateur.

  • SHARKWATER EXTINCTION, de Rob Stewart ; Stewart poursuit son combat pour sauver nos océans en luttant contre la pêche de contrebande et le commerce illégal des ailerons de requin.

  • WOMAN AT WAR, de Benedikt Erlingsson ; au coeur d'une Islande splendidement filmée, à mi-chemin entre la comédie sympathique et le suspense écoterroriste où une professeure de musique mène une lutte acharnée contre l’industrie d’aluminium locale. En présence du réalisateur.

  • ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch, de Jennifer Baichwal , Nicholas De Pencier , Edward Burtynsky ; un étrange ballet effrayant et superbe sur l’époque où l’activité humaine est devenue la principale force de changement sur l’écosystème terrestre. ** La projection du 6 octobre sera suivie d'une discussion avec Bénédicte Ramade de l’Université de Montréal et Geneviève Puskas d’Équiterre. Cette discussion sera modérée par Krystel Papineau de la Maison du développement durable.
