Gutsy cinema that breaks new ground
DENMARK , Netherlands , Sweden | 93 minutes | 2018
Sascha meets up with her boyfriend, powerful crime boss Michael, on the picture-perfect Turkish Riviera for a holiday. Though she revels in the shallow pleasures of her opulent lifestyle, she is also subject (and seemingly complicit) to the violence that marks her world, dominated by her man. Her flirtation with a young, attentive Dutchman, as exciting as it is dangerous, appears to present an opportunity to reconsider the heavy price she has to pay for a lavish life or else embrace it fully... Provocative and chillingly clinical, this hard-hitting début feature from Swedish filmmaker Isabella Eklöf paints a disturbing portrait of a young woman trapped in a web of luxury and ease. CANADIAN PREMIERESchedule change: the screening on October 14 will start at 9:50pm instead of 9:30pm.
