See what the programming team has to say about the FNC 2018 films: today ZOE PROTAT, FOCUS Quebec/Canada programmer.
They have seen a lot of films, they had to make choices and mournings to concoct an enviable program, see what the programming team has to say about the FNC 2018 films: today Zoé Protat, programmer of the section Focus Québec/Canada.
Cinephile and the daughter of a filmmaker, Zoé Protat writes for the magazine Ciné-Bulles and is the cultural director at CISM 89,3 radio. Very busy woman, she was part of the jury of the AQCC for the section Les nouveaux alchimistes in 2017 and is in command of the programmation of Focus Québec/Canada in 2018!

Firecrackers, The national buzz is completely deserved for the director's first feature film. A young director, 2 wonderful main actresses and a raw energy that does not sacrifice the lyricism. A real discovery.
I love International Competition because it is the moment to discover new talents. Special mention for these first impactful, bewildering and moving movies:
Thunder Road, soft spot for Jim Cummings, this one-man band with a machine gun speech flow who gave himself a difficult role in his first feature film with a really original tone. The opening scene is already a classic.
A surprising film: Edge of the Knife, the first movie to be shot in Haida language from the Haida Gwaii indigenous community in British Colombia. A real cultural power takeover doubled by an enchanting fantasy legend.
A boldness: With its off the wall tone cuts, its sense of grotesque and its incredible casting, Happy Face of Alexandre Franchi is brilliant. And then you have Fad Gadget's music...
One last word : #FNC2018 : chocs, émotions, trouvailles, bonheurs. Du bonbon.
