7:30 pm,DES ARMES ET NOUS, Lysanne Thibodeau ; A review of our time and the question of arms, this film talks of a controversial, destabilizing and explosively hot topic. Presented by RIDM. * There is a second screening Sunday.
9 pm, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING, de Tom Donahue ; Hollywood has helped shape the image and public perception of women. In the context of the #TimesUp movement, this documentary calls to action is advocated, with tangible solutions to transform the industry by giving the floor to these actresses ( Geena Davis, Meryl Streep, Chloë Grace Moretz ), producers and directors to talk about the innumerable displays of inherent sexism and machismo in the business. * There is a second screening Saturday.

5:15 pm, LEMONADE, Ioana Uricaru ; As the debate rages on so-called illegal immigration, this powerful début feature trains its lens on a Romanian migrant’s desperate quest to obtain a Green Card. Terse and biting, it’s a tough study of one of the day’s most burning issues. Director & main actress in attendance !
3:15 pm, TEL AVIV ON FIRE, Sameh Zoabi ; The wannabe screenwriter is now under pressure by the officer to rewrite the events of the beloved soap. A politically-tinged satirical comedy that takes a hilarious look at the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Director in attendance !
7:30 pm, BARBARA RUBIN & THE EXPLODING NY UNDERGROUND, Chuck Smith ; Barbara Rubin introduced Andy Warhol to the Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan to the Kabbalah, and Allen Ginsberg to life on a farm. The documentary uncovers the impact that Barbara Rubin had on an underground world that was dominated by men, and reveals how and why one of the freest spirits of the sixties disappeared into legend. Director in attendance !

3 pm, LIES MY FATHER TOLD ME, Ján Kadár ; Legendary Montreal producer Harry Gulkin, who recently died at 90, was a bridge-builder, respected as much among francos as anglos. He was best known for producing the iconic Montreal-made Lies My Father Told Me (Ján Kadár, 1975). Focusing on the heartwarming bond between a 7-year-old boy and his eccentric grandfather, the film was hailed as a Canadian classic. It is the only Canadian production to win the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Restaured version by Éléphant : mémoire du cinéma québécois. FREE event.
