Engaging with the world
PALESTINE , Germany , Netherlands , Mexico | 127 minutes | 2018
Sarah is an Israeli café owner; Saleem, a Palestinian deliveryman. Both are married. But the attraction is strong, and Saleem’s delivery van is soon the scene of their tryst. Impossible for an adulterous liaison between an Arab and a Jew not to get drawn into the political quagmire of a divided Jerusalem… For his sophomore feature, the Palestinian director reinvents the spy thriller with a tightly drawn screenplay that takes a compelling new twist, layering unseen and complex ramifications onto a tale as old as time.
