Gutsy cinema that breaks new ground

In fine Hitchcockian (North by Northwest) fashion, Danish newcomer Gustav Möller serves up a breathtaking thriller based on a screenplay crafted with near-surgical precision. Premised in a series of 911 calls from a female kidnap victim, The Guilty keeps us on the edge of our seats as it cranks up the suspense. Möller’s nail-biting sound design agonizingly fills in the gaps, making this a masterful first feature, claustrophobic, harrowing and terrifyingly effective. Unforgettably intense.
