Through talent, motivation, technical skill and, most importantly, hard work, five Venezuelan teenage girls from underprivileged backgrounds reach the heights of girls’ soccer. They Call Us Warriors is a lesson in humility from these brave, determined young players.
Their names are Sandra, Deyna, Veronica, Yerliane and Daniuska. They’re all from underprivileged backgrounds. Through their innate talent for futbol, not to mention their persistence, they earned their spots on the national under-17 girls’ soccer team. Undeterred by their federation’s tiny budget, they’ve become symbols of success but also of resilience in Venezuela and all over South America.
